ICCI and trade bodies from the city jointly organise 'Uzhave Thalai', a farming conference to promote agriculture


In order to promote farming at a larger scale in Coimbatore so as to develop the economy of the District, Indian of Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Coimbatore and Coimbatore District Small Scale Industries Association (CODISSIA) are jointly organising a one day Conference on Farming at the CODISSIA halls here on 15th of July.

The conference titled ‘Uzhavae Thalai’ would be held as a part of the Agri Intex – 2017, an annual agricultural event held in the same premises between 14th and 17th of July.

Briefing media persons here members of the organising committee said that the conference would help pool in various ideas on farming from all parts of the country under one roof so as to enrich the already rich farming legacy of the textile district.

“The speakers would share the stories of their own life experiences. After having quit their respective jobs and taking farming full time, they will be surely be a great inspiration to all the attendees,” said B. Sundaram, President of Codissia.

He further added that the speakers would also give importance to the efficient use of technology in farming so that the process becomes easier and productive.



Some of the notable speakers are Pamayan M. Balasubraminan Millet Farmer, Vivek Cariapa from Krac-a-dawna, C.K. bablu Ganguli from Timbaktu Collective and Sivalingam, Founder of D-Millet Cooperative. 

Further Gagandeep Singh Bedi, Principal Secretary to Government and Commissioner of Agricultural Production, Actor Prakash Raj who has taken up farming, Vice Chancellor of Tamil Nadu Agricultural University K. Ramasamy would also address the gathering.

The registration for the conference is online and is at a registration fee of Rs.750. Registration can be done at www.indianchamber.in/ut2017.

According to the organisers around 500 participants have registered so far.
