Rains expected for three days in Coimbatore

Even as the start of the Southwest Monsoon has not brought much rain to Coimbatore, officials from the Agro Climate Research Centre (ACRC) at Tamil Nadu Agricultural Department (TNAU) has said that the district could expect good rain for three days including Monday.

S.Panneerselvam, head of ACRC said that a total of 170 mm rain is expected in the monsoon which is to continue till September. However, because of heavy wind, the air pressure has been too high resulting in only drizzles in the outskirts whereas the city has not received any rain.

Around 15 to 20 mm rainfall has been recorded in the outskirts of the district so far.

If the needed wind pressure is attained, the city would get adequate rainfall in the three days. However, it may be noted that the city has not received rain on Monday.

“We expect the situation to change and there will be good rainfall this year,” said Panneerselvam.
