City Corporation to set up solar-powered Smart Trees for public utility.

The Coimbatore City Corporation has introduced a solar - powered Smart Tree, with in - built air quality monitor and wifi facility for the benefit of the city denizens. 



Designed as a part of Smart city initiative, the smart tree, would have concrete pillars for 12 feet and solar panels fitted on top of it in 200 square feet area. The base of the tree would have 400 square feet lounge area which would be with artificial grass where people can sit, relax and browse.

The ambient air quality would be checked by the air quality monitors fitted in the smart tree, which would help check the air pollution levels at various points in the city. 



The City Corporation has planned to set up 30 such smart trees in various parts of the city for public utility. Also the solar panels help generate 8 unit of electricity, and smart city is being set up at the cost of Rs.3.5 lakhs said CMC Commissioner Dr.K.Vijayakarthikeyan.
