Sri Ramakrishna Hospital signs MOU with Gleneagles Global Health City, Chennai

Sri Ramakrishna Hospital has signed a “Memorandum of Understanding” (MOU) with Gleneagles Global Health City, Chennai for performing liver transplantation at Sri Ramakrishna Hospital, Coimbatore. 

The MOU with Gleneagles Global Health City, Chennai was signed by Sri.D.Lakshminarayanaswamy, Joint Managing Trustee of the hospital  and Prof. Mohamed Rela, Director, HPB Surgery and Liver Transplantation, Gleneagles Global Health City, Chennai. 

The scope of the MOU involves performance and post-operative care after liver transplantation in Sri Ramakrishna Hospital, training of various specialists of Sri Ramakrishna Hospital in liver transplantation and allied fields and gradual transfer of techniques and technology involved in liver transplantation to Sri Ramakrishna Hospital. These specialties include liver surgery, liver anesthesia, liver intensive care, transplant hematology, pediatric hepatology, transplant infectious diseases and provision of blood banking services for this highly demanding team work.

Operation theatre nurses, ICU nurses and ward nurses from Sri Ramakrishna Hospital also would be trained by Gleneagles global health city,  under the MOU. Gradual and sustained transition of liver transplant work will happen to the team of doctors in Sri Ramakrishna Hospital.

 

“We believe that the MOU will allow a very well trained liver transplant workforce, which will contribute to safe performance  and very good postoperative outcome after liver transplantation at Sri Ramakrishna hospital” said Sri Ramakrishan Hospital authorities.

 

Prof. Mohamed Rela is one of the best in the world in the field of liver transplantation. Dr. Rela has performed close to 3000 liver transplants all over the world and he is the sole liver transplant surgeon who has performed more than 750 pediatric liver transplants.
