Refuting allegations that the compulsory sterilization was carried out on a woman of Ramanathapuram, who gave birth a female child in the maternity ward of the Government Medical college Hospital, Asokan, Dean of college said that the no such compulsory procedure to fix contraception was carried out on any of the mothers admitted in the maternity ward.
Following a complaint of Senthil of Ramanathapuram that his wife Roopa who was admitted in the CMCH was fixed with Copper –T contraception after she gave birth to a female child, which led to complications, the dean who met the press here said the statutory procedure was followed and the signature of Shymala, the mother of Roopa was obtained before the sterilization procedure was carried out on Roopa.
The Dean Asokan also warned the legal action would be initiated against those spreading rumors in this respect.
