City Corporation slaps fines of Rs.9,900 for open defecation.

To end open defecation in corporation limits the civic body has conducted raids and slapped fines to the tune of Rs.9,900 on those who were found to be using open areas for open defecation.

The corporation has exhorted the citizens to use only toilets and also have received pledges to this effect by using Self Help Groups. However the practice of open defecation is found to be in practice in many wards across the five zone.

Appealing to the public to use only toilets and sanitary complexes constructed by the corporation, the commissioner Dr.K.Vijayakarthikeyan said that people could contact corporation if there is any lack of sanitary complexes in their areas.
