Police arrest duo for smuggling pendrive into central prison complex

Race course Police arrested Rasheed and Harihara sharma of Thiruvananthapuram on charges of the smuggling a pen drive in to the central prison complex, when they came to visit a jailed Maoist there.

The duo had visited the jail complex on the pretext of handing over clothes to Anup, a jailed Maoist yesterday. When jail officials inspected the clothes it was found out a pen drive was hidden in it. Following which the prison authorities handed over the duo to the Race course police, who arrested them on three counts of charges of smuggling banned items inside a prison, preventing a public servant from carrying out his duty and issuing murder threat to a public servant.

Rasheed, one of the arrested is a brother of Moideen, a Kerala based Maoist.

The duo who were produced in Judicial Magistrate court was remanded in judicial custody.
