Farmers belonging to Velaan Nagar near Singanllaur staged a novel anti-TASMAC protest here inform of the Collectorate with plantain stems and saplings.

The protestors said that tipplers are in the habit of dumping liquor bottles in farm lands after consuming liquor in their area due to which the farming practices are affected. “The proximity of TASMAC outlet, has also caused lot of trouble to school going children and women” the farmers said.

In a similar protest, the residents of Semmankuttai village in Sultanpettai pachayat union, who petitioned the Collector said that tipplers in a TASMAC out let there are misbehaving with women, who happened to pass by the busy road. The demanded to shift out the shop from the village to free the villagers from the evils of liquor.
