Lack of traffic awareness amongst the public is proven to be the predominant cause for the alarming increase of accidents. In most circumstances, the young drivers are more focussed on 'driving fast' rather than 'driving right'. In the intent of enforcing right driving practices among the people of Coonoor, an awareness campaign was flagged off yesterday by Deputy Superintendent of Police A. Muthamizh. Traffic Inspectors Balakrishnan and Ashok kumar educated the drivers on the do's and dont's, and especially on the detrimental effects of drink and drive.

'Life is the most precious thing', said the Traffic inspectors to the youth. The public were also advised to refrain from using cell phones while driving and instead to park the vehicles on the appropriate sides and attend the calls. Despite repeated instructions, those who fail to adhere the traffic rules will have to face legal repercussions along with termination of their driving license, warned the Officials.
