Industry leaders call on Union Minister Venkaiah Naidu, urges him to expedite City airport expansion project.

A group of industry leaders and representatives, including the directors of Kongu Global Forum, Presidents of CODISSIA and SIEMA, Vice Chairman of CII have called on Venkaiah Naidu, Union Minister for Urban Development, Housing & Urban Poverty Alleviation at Tiruppur and submitted a memorandum requesting his intervention to expedite the Coimbatore City Airport expansion project.

The industrialists in their submitted memorandum has requested the Union minister to prevail upon the State Government to release the funds for land procurement abutting the civil airport for the expansion project.

“If the Civil Aviation Ministry accorded “Point of Call” status to Coimbatore airport it would facilitate foreign carriers to operate flights out of Coimbatore without any hiatus” the representatives said in the memorandum submitted to the Union Minister.
