A 20-year old sick elephant which was roaming about in Kovaipudur area was found dead by forest officials in Ettimadai forest range.
The thoroughly exhausted elephant, which might have been suffering from some ailment could not consume fodder or drink water for days.
“The forest department Veterinarians will conduct the post-mortem, and the real cause of the elephant death could only then be ascertained. However no external injuries were found on the body of the dead elephant”said Forest Department officials.
