The Two day CPM State Political Committee conference held here in the city passed resolutions to the effect that it would continue to fight for the rights of the people of Tamilnadu.
The meet attended by CPM Politburo member Prakash Karat and Presided over by G. Ramakrishnan, CPM State Secretary, other prominent leaders of the party condemned Modi Government measures such as demonetization, Food Security Act, Udhay scheme, and privatization efforts of Salem Steel plant.
“The GST has affected the common man as certain goods and services are levied with 28% tax against the former 14%, and the Modi - Government has gone back on its promise to fix remunerative procurement prizes for fare produces” said G. Ramakrishnan
While condemning the fundamentalist agenda of Hindutva outfits, the conference said that attacks against Dalits have risen in numbers and the cow - slaughter bill was would affect poor farmers and their livelihood. It also amounted to infringing on the rights of the states like Tamilnadu.
The conference noted that the Modi Government has denied the rights of Tamilnadu on various fronts. Including imposition of Hindi. The promised Ail India Institute of medical sciences has not yet been established in Tamilnadu. Even though the state has demanded Rs.61000 crores for relief operations during the Vardha cyclone, which hit the state, the Centre has only given a measly 244 crores, the conference said.
The conference also passed resolutions demanding the withdrawal of cases foisted on anti-TASMAC protestors and release of those arrested. The easy availability of liquor has made many women in rural pockets widows, the conference noted.
