As farmers threaten to lay seize to Vidhana Soudha, security tightened at city border

Security has been tightened on the outskirts of the city after hundreds of farmers took out a bike rally from Chikaballapur threatening to lay seize to Vidhana Soudha. Over 2,000 police personnel are guarding the entry and exit points of the city to stop the farmers belonging to Karnataka Rajya Raitha Sangha and Hasiru Sene took who are demanding permanent water solutions for Chikaballapur and adjacent districts.

There is heavy police deployment at Navayuga toll near the international airport, with KSRP platoons along with water jets and empty BMTC buses stationed to prevent the farmers from entering the city.

The Chikkaballapur district police have also deployed additional forces at strategic locations along Chikkaballapura and Devanahalli Main Road. Two platoons of police personnel have been asked to march along the protesters to ensure there are no law and order problems.

Meanwhile, the protesters are unhappy that the government has not taken any measure to ensure water for drinking and irrigation purpose for the region. They said that the Chief Minister has failed to keep up the promise me made when the leaders met him three months ago.

Earlier, on Wednesday the police detained a few farmers at Chikaballapur under preventive detention and later released them.

The city police deployed at the border have been instructed to prevent the bike rally from entering the city which may cause traffic problem during peak hours.
