Lottery system is being followed in 193 private schools in the district to admit students under Right to Education Act (RTE). As more number of applications are received under this category admission would be done through lottery system said Ganeshamurthy, Chief Education officer.
Inaugurating a lottery system at a private school in Chokkamputhur, the CEO said under RTE act 25% of seats is allocated to students hailing from impoverished families. And where ever the number of applications are overwhelming, it was decided to conduct a lottery system to select students in private schools.Out 405 private school in the district 193 schools have received more number of applications the CEO said
Ganeshamurthy added that date for online application under RTE is being extended to July 26. So that students from poorer sections could to apply for these seats.
“The private schools which collect school fees over and above the prescribed limit would be taken to task and their accreditation would be cancelled immediately” Ganeshamurthy warned.
