100 kg Ganja seized, 2 narcotic agents held.

Sleuths of Narcotics Intelligence Bureau (NIB) today seized 100 kg of Ganja near here and arrested two persons in this connection.

The narcotics substance was being smuggled from Andhra Pradesh to Kerala via Theni  in the car when it was seized by NIB sleuths.

Acting on a tip off, a NIB team intercepted an Andhra Pradesh registered car at Annanji Vilakku junction and seized Ganja weighing 100 kilograms, valued at Rs 10 lakh. The narcotic substance was kept in five bags, each weighing 20 kg.

The NIB sleuths also arrested two occupants of the car namely Sabareesan (30) and Vinodh (22), both hailing from Madurai district.

Upon interrogation, the duo confessed that they were working as agents on commission basis and procured the ganja consignment from a narcotic peddler in Andhra for smuggling it to Kerala via Theni.

The car used for smuggling Ganja was also impounded. Further investigations are on.
