The façade and frontage of the Coimbatore Railway junction would be given a face lift and an expert architect has been roped for the purpose said Mr. Hari Shankar Verma the Divisional Railway Manager.

Briefing the media at the Coimbatore Railway junction, the DRM said “Funds have been allocated for the archway entrance with a canopy and heritage NMR logo placed at the entrance. This canopy would serve the waiting passengers during both the summer and rainy seasons. The escalator work which was stalled due to unavailability of sand too would be commence soon and it will be operational from September.”
“Radio-based taxi services would be introduced in the Coimbatore Railway junction and tender for which will be floated soon. The services of Uday Express too will start within few months’ time and it would be a morning service as there is no slot available at Bangalore Railway station if Uday express is operated as a night train. The much awaited Pollachi-Podanur train too will operational soon." Hari Shankar Varma said.
When asked about the proposed multilevel car parking facility the DRM said “We had floated tender for the multilevel car- parking works but bidding could not be done as there was few takers for the project. The Southern Railways has plans to build a multilevel two- wheeler parking with three levels of parking decks. It will have the capacity of 700-800 vehicles. The tender for multi-level two wheeler parking will be open from 15th June and the work will begin at fast pace after the sorting out of tender work." Hari Shankar Varma added.
Setting up of a food court at the Coimbatore Railway Station is also on the anvil IRCTC has already started works for the food court. “The area where the Station Manager’s office is situated at present will be taken over for the proposed food court. With the shifted to the first floor “Hari Shankar Varma added.
