Self Help Groups highly benefited by Mahalir Thittam scheme


Under Mahalir Thittam scheme , which is being implemented under Tamilnadu Corporation for the Development of Women loans to the tune of Rs.211.34 crores have been distributed and 6698 Self-help groups have benefited under the scheme. 

As many 5753 women have been given entrepreneurship training and bank loans extended to them to their start their own industrial units. These self-help group members have Rs.375 crores as deposits in banks and poverty alleviation programmers have been implemented among tribal and other backward communities for which Rs.2.56 crores have been set  aside said a press communique issued by the Collectorate.

Chandra, who have started a choir spinning unit with the help of bank loan has said that she is earning Rs.15, 000 due to the Mahalir thittam scheme which is being successfully implemented in the district.
