Tamilnadu Vivasayingal Sangam urges Government to withdraw notification on bovine slaughter

The district committee of Tamilnadu Vivasayikal Sangam has urged the Government to withdraw the recent notification on bovine slaughter and the Conditions imposed there on.

In a petition submitted to the District collector TN Hariharan the farmers have said that the notification has laid down many conditions including not using tether and reins and decorating the bulls during harvest festivals. The conditions laid down by the notification amounted to interfering with the traditional rights of farmers, who have been raising cattle for generations.



The notification also warns farmers that those who do not abide by the rules would be penalized under the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals act. This amounted to threatening farmers. The farmers said.
