Ramadan fasting commences in Tamilnadu

The Ramadan fasting, which is considered one of the five duties of the Islam has commenced from May 28 in Tamilnadu according to Haji Salahuddin Ayub, Head Islamic Cleric.

Taraweeh prayers are said in all the mosques in the city in the evening during the holy month.

Ramadan is a month of fasting for Muslim all over the world and it ends on June 24 and culminates in Eid –al- Fitr, marked by feasting and exchange of gifts.

Ramadan fasting would last for 30 days of the lunar month and during Ramadan fasting Muslims observe rigorous fasting from dawn to dusk.
