A scientific book on Keyhole surgeries performed on the Lumbar Disc Prolapse was released today. It was penned by Dr.J.K.B.C Parthiban, Senior Consultant Neuro Surgeon, KMCH Hospital. Dr.Parthiban is Founder President of Tamil Nadu and Pondicherry Association of Neurosurgeons.
The book titled 'Neuro Spinal Surgery Operative Techniques-Micro Lumbar Disectomy' was released by Dr.Nalla.G.Palanisamy, Chairman of KMCH. While addressing the media prior to the launch, Dr.Nalla.G.Palanisamy said "Dr.Parthiban, with his vast experience in spinal surgery, has penned down the much demanded spinal surgery book for young neurosurgeons and spinal surgeons. The book elaborates surgical details of ultra specific steps in preserving the nerve root and spine movements while removing the disc prolapse in lumbar spine. This is a one-of-its-kind book as there is no other book dedicated to this technique by any Indian Spinal Surgeon. This book will be a boon to all young neuro and spinal surgeons. The book explains the development of spinal surgery in India and lead role taken by KMCH in this field under Dr.Parthibhan's leadership."
The first copy of the book was received by renowned Neuro-Spinal surgeon, Prof.S.Ramani to whom this book was dedicated. The hospital has also planned to donate a set of books to libraries of the neurosurgery department of major neurosurgical centres like Coimbatore Medical College, Madurai Medical College, PSG Medical College and KMCH.
Mr.Varman V Kumar, former test player and start leg spinner of the Indian Cricket team, addressed the gathering of first class cricketers, neurosurgeons, spinal surgeons, rotarians and entrepreneurs along with many others who had undergone this surgery. He sung paeans on the skill of Dr.Parthiban who has established himself as a proficient surgeon.
Dr.Arun Palanisamy, Director of KMCH; M.Venkataraman, Former Test Cricketer; Dr.Nandini Murali, Author and Mr.Edumaran, Vice-Principal of Christian College Kodaikanal were also present at the launch.
