City Corporation to conduct cleanliness drive on World Environment Day.

The City Corporation would embark on a cleanliness drive on World Environment day to create awareness on 100% source segregation and bill boards would be erected in all the 100 wards for the purpose said CCMC Commissioner K.Vijayakarthikeyan.

Presiding over a consultative meeting K. Vijayakarthikeyan said “On the day breeding sources of dengue mosquitoes would be destroyed and awareness created among the public to identify and destroy the breeding sources on war footing to avoid spread of dengue with the onset on south west monsoon. Fogging and fumigation would be taken up across all the zones of the civic body.

Awareness on the ill effects of open defecation and dumping of garbage and waste disposal in streams and other open places would be created by among the public by the corporation officials. The city residents would be advised to handover segregated solid waste in two bins in all the ward of the civic body.
