Police arrest cadres of Tamil Puligal for trying to ban effigy of Modi

Police have arrested cadres of Tamil Puligal a fringe Tamil national outfit when they tried to burn an effigy of Prime Minister Narendra Modi here.

Condemning that Central Government’s newly imposed ban on sale of cattle for slaughter and meat m the Tamil Puligal have resorted to burn the effigy of Narendra Modi, in front of Red Cross building here, when police intercepted and arrested them.

Blaming the Modi Government at the Centre for taking anti-Muslim measures Tamil puligal urged the Government to with draw the notification as beef is a cheap source of protein available to the poorer sections of society.

In a new notification the e central government has banned the sale of cattle for slaughter at animal fairs and markets across the country. As per the new notification, passed under Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (Regulation and Livestock market rules) the cattle including, bulls, cows, buffaloes and camels could not be sold at the animal markets for slaughter. Animal market committees would oversee the cattle are not sold for slaughter as per the law.
