Corporation officials have conducted surprise raids and seized 510 kg of banned plastic covers from 299 shops cutting across all the five zones. The raids were conducted and seizures effected from May 20 to May 26.
The Corporation has intensified its drive against plastic bags and from May 1 and production , storing and selling of plastic covers which fall below 50 micron level is totally banned in city corporation limits.
CCMC Commissioner K. Vijayakarthikeyan has issued a warning to shop keepers not to sell these banned covers, lest penal action would be taken against them.
