Saravanan, of Kanjeepuram, an Air passenger, who arrived at the city airport by an Air Asia airliner from Sharjah, was arrested on charges of smuggling 900 grams of gold by immigration officials.
Saravanan had hidden the gold in his anus canal which came to light during the immigration check.
Immigration officials seized the gold bars and arrested Saravanan.
