R. Mutharasan, Tamil Nadu State Secretary of Communist Party of India (CPI) was here in the city to inaugurate the renovated CPI Office (Jeeva House). During the event, the state and district leaders of CPI unveiled the statue of P. Jeevanandham (1907–1965) also called Jeeva, who was a social reformer and pioneer of the Communist and socialist movements in the state of Tamil Nadu.
Speaking to the media post inauguration, the Senior leader said that, 'Interference of the Central Government in TN's governance is at it's peak. Whether the split OPS and EPS team will join hands and work as one team is realistically in the hands of the BJP government'.

'Fearing defeat, the AIADMK government is purposefully trying to delay the local body elections. Delay in the local body elections has stalled several pressing administration activities throughout Tamil Nadu. Hence, the election body should plan to facilitate the local body elections at the earliest', he said.
When questioned about Actor Rajnikanth's speech, Mutharasan said, 'Anyone can come to Politics!'
Condemning the brutal attack on the Public, Mutharasan said 'In several parts of the state, the public are genuinely demonstrating protests to close the Tasmacs. It is highly condemnable as these protestors are being brutally targeted by the Police. And, it's further annoying as the ruling government continues to ignore people's issues'.
