The first Summer Night Market kicks off in Jenny's Residency

“It’s 9 pm, come let’s go shopping!”. Doesn’t sound normal, does it? Well it is not normal for Coimbatore to have anything to do in the night. But this weekend, we can brace ourselves for a one of a kind, night market. A night market, yes!

The Summer Night Market is the brainchild of Sapna, a fashion designer and Balaji, founder of Sheriff Dance Company. These two good friends from Coimbatore have brought this first of its kind night market to the city.

Sapna while speaking to Simplicity shares that "For a long time, me and Balaji have been thinking of organizing something unique for the people of Coimbatore. As it’s summer time most people prefer not going out for shopping during the daytime, so we thought of organizing this Summer Night Market. It’s a one stop destination that caters to everyone’s need. One can do shopping, have mouth watering delicacies, play fun games, hip music with bands, dance shows and much more which can make your weekend worth.

We have nearly 40 stalls which mainly provides platform for women entrepreneurs and self help groups. Apart from that we have given youngsters an opportunity to perform like we have Void an All Girls Band from Banglore and an independent Youtube artist Dinesh from Coimbatore.

Though it’s the first time we are organizing, we have received more than 500 people in the first few hours and we are expecting more than 3000 people through the weekend. Our next plan is to organize a similar winter market."

Not just the organisers, the visitors and the stall owners have been gung-ho about this night market. Isha Arora who has set up a stall of handmade crafts shares her experience. "I have displayed handmade laminated trays, wallet, mobile covers, terracota jewels. The concept is unique and people have given good response for the products and we are happy with the crowd."

The Summer Night Market is open from 3.00 pm to 11.00 pm today and tomorrow at Jenny's Residency .
