The commercial branch officials along with RPF officials of the Salem Division of the Southern Railways undertook a special ticket checking drive at Erode Junction from 20.00 hrs on 19.05.2017 till 04.00 hrs on 20.05.2017. The ticket checking drive was carried out by a team of 16 Commercial Branch Officials under Sri M. Rajeshwaran, Chief Ticket Checking Inspector, Salem, and a team of 15 other RPF personnel lead by Sri Siva Das, Asst. Security Commissioner/RPF, Salem.
In this special drive that was carried out under instructions from Sri Viju Vin, Sr. Divisional Commercial Manager, Salem, 61 cases were booked for ticketless travelling and an amount of Rs.21,050/- (Rupees twenty one thousand and fifty olnly) was collected as ticket fare and penalty.
Sri Hari Shankar Verma, DRM, Salem, appreciated the late night checking undertaken by the Commercial Branch and RPF and instructed them to carry out regular surprise checkings to prevent ticket-less traveling. He also requested passengers to travel with valid tickets to avoid legal action being taken.
