Police arrest 17 Periyar Kazhagam cadres for burning effigy of actor Rajnikanth

Coimbatore Police have arrested 17 Periyar Dravidar Kazhagam cadres for burning effigy of  actor Rajnikanth and shouting slogans against him.

Taking exception to the recent remarks of the actor  on "Tamils stooping so low to criticise him in social media " the Periyar Dravidar Kazhagam cadres who gathered infront of Periyar Padippagam in Gandhipuram burnt the effigy of the actor and shouted slogans against him.

Alleging that the senior actor, while reacting to the Social media postings on his imminent entry into politics has gone overboard and criticised “the he had not thought that Tamils would stoop to such low levels to criticise him on social media".

“Rajnikanth was not able to tolerate the criticisms leveled against him by netizens in face book and other social media. He had criticised the whole Tamil race for the handiworks of the few. The actor should submit an unconditional apology for slandering Tamils in this manner" Periyar Dravidar Kazhagam functionaries said.

More over the cadres alleged that the  actor was in the habit of staging a drama (regarding his political entry), whenever his films are due for release.
