384 kg of plastic bags and products seized in the last week.

City Corporation has intensified its efforts to ban plastic products , which fall below 50 micron levels and in the last one week alone 384 kg of plastic bags have been seized from 274 shops cutting across five zones.

Assistant Commissioners of all the five zones have been instructed to supervise the drive against plastic bags and civic officials including Health inspectors have been conducting frequent raids to check the use of plastic bags.

Corporation Commissioner K. Vijayakarthikeyan has appealed to Traders, shop keepers and general public not to use plastic bags any longer and use eco- friendly cloth bags in its place.
