Rs.22 lakhs allocated to prevent water logging in Lanka corner underpass


The CC Municipal Corporation is expediting measures to check water- logging under bridges and low lying areas in the city during rainy season. A fund allocation of Rs.22 lakhs has been made to prevent were logging in Lanka underpass in the city.



According to Corporation officials as a pilot project, Lanka corner underpass would be laid with metal frames to collect rain water. The stretch from District Collector's office to Lanka corner, is a low lying area and so the rain waters overflow from drains and inundate the area. This would be checked by the new metal frame structure, which would dispose the rain water through multiple storm water drain connections.

City Corporation has made a fund allocation of Rs.22 lakhs to implement the project to check water logging in Lanka corner area Corporation officials said. Arunprasath, an architect has been roped in to inspect all the bridges in the city and suggest minor structural changes to prevent water logging during rainy season, which would set in from the first of week of June.



In the Kikkani under pass in the city, collected sand debri in storm water bridges have been removed to facilitate easy flow of rain water.
