Public have alleged that unidentified persons are dumping meat waste into the Sanganoor canal in Coimbatore, raising sanitation and public health concerns. They have urged authorities to act swiftly to prevent a potential health crisis.

Coimbatore:. Publichave raised concerns over sanitation after meat waste was allegedly dumped in the Sanganoor canal near a railway bridge in Coimbatore.

A video purportedly showing sacks containing meat waste being dumped in the canal has gone viral on social media. Residents alleged that some persons arrived on a two-wheeler and dumped the sacks into the canal, which flows close to residential areas.

Local residents who witnessed the incident reportedly confronted one of the persons and recorded the exchange on video.

When questioned about the source of the waste, the man allegedly said that he was an employee and had brought it from a meat shop in the Sanganoor area. As residents continued to question him, he allegedly left the sacks at the spot and fled on his two-wheeler.

The video, which has since been circulated on social media, reportedly shows the location where the waste was dumped, the sacks left at the site and the registration number of the two-wheeler.

Residents said the alleged dumping of meat waste in the open and in the canal had resulted in foul odour and raised concerns over an increase in flies, mosquitoes and stray dogs in the locality.

They expressed concern that the improper disposal of such waste could pose a public health risk and urged the Coimbatore Corporation and the police to investigate the incident and take appropriate action against those responsible.

Residents have also called for measures to prevent the continued dumping of waste into the Sanganoor canal and ensure the proper disposal of meat and other commercial waste.
