For the past couple of days, Valparai has been subject to heavy showers. The temperatures have come down cooling the hill station. Located towards the south-east of Kerala, these pouring rains declare the onset of monsoon.
It was earlier predicted that the monsoons would start only towards the end of May, however this year it has arrived early, with much pomp. Locals rejoice as they believe the showers are to be heavier this year.
Since Valparai provides a neat getaway from the scorching heat in most other places, the tourism is also thriving during this time of the year.
