Amaravathi and Thirumoorthy Dams in Tiruppur Record Rising Water Levels

Amaravathi Dam in Tiruppur District has recorded a water level of 59.22 feet on August 27. Continuous rainfall in catchment areas has brought an inflow of 506 cubic feet per second. Thirumoorthy Dam stands at 33.51 feet water level currently.


Tiruppur: The water level at Amaravathi Dam in Tiruppur District has risen significantly due to continuous inflow. Officials from the Water Resources Department reported that as of August 27, the water level in this dam, which has a total capacity of 90 feet, has reached 59.22 feet.

Continuous rainfall over the past few days in the dam's catchment areas has resulted in an inflow of 506 cubic feet per second into Amaravathi Dam. Water Resources Department officials stated that currently, no water is being released from the dam.

Similarly, the situation at Thirumoorthy Dam, located near Udumalaipettai in Tiruppur District, is also satisfactory. This dam, with a capacity of 60 feet, has recorded a water level of 33.51 feet as of August 27.

Thirumoorthy Dam is also receiving continuous inflow. Water Resources Department officials informed that currently, 21 cubic feet of water is being released from the dam.

Since the onset of the monsoon season, water levels in dams across Tiruppur District have been rising gradually. This development brings good news for both irrigation farmers and drinking water requirements.

Water Resources Department officials are continuously monitoring the water levels in the dams and making decisions regarding water release as needed. With further rainfall expected, water levels are anticipated to rise even higher.
