13 persons injured in jallikattu

TIRUCHY: At least 13 persons were injured during the jallikattu event which held at Sobanapuram village in Thuraiyur taluk in the district today.

Revenue Divisional Officer S Janaki, Musiri Sub Division, flagged off the jallikattu event in the presence of DSP G Balamurugan, MLA  S Stalin Kumar (Thuraiyur constituency) and P Rajasekar, president of Jallikattu Peravai.

A total of 250 ferocious bulls and 291 bull-tamers participated in the event. All precautionary measures including mandatory medical test for the bulls and the tamers as per the guidelines laid down by the Supreme Court had been taken before the conduct of the Tamils’ traditional sport of valour.
