Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) has introduced cash-on- delivery facility for the booking of train tickets which is done through its IRCTC website and mobile app.
Addressing the media a senior IRCTC officials said that passengers while booking their journey tickets could now get the facility of getting the tickets delivered at their own doorsteps with the introduction of cash- on- delivery system.
It is mandatory for the passenger to register his or her Aadhar card or Pan Card number on the website, provide the full postal address and check the box of cash-on-delivery while booking the train tickets.
While a service tax of Rs.90 (up to Rs.5000) and Rs.120 (above Rs.5000) would be collected respectively, to avail this new facility, cancellation of tickets could also be done (with the service charges added) through this new facility introduced by IRCTC.
