Coimbatore's 12 Amma Unavagams Record Rs 87.30 Lakh Sales in Three Months

The 12 Amma Unavagams operating under Coimbatore Corporation have sold 11.39 lakh food items worth Rs 87.30 lakh between May and July. The scheme providing quality food at subsidised rates has gained tremendous popularity among the public across the city.


Coimbatore: The 12 Amma Unavagams operating under Coimbatore Corporation have achieved remarkable sales of Rs 87.30 lakh worth of food items to the public over the past three months. This reflects the success of the Tamil Nadu government's Amma Unavagam scheme in the district.



As per the Tamil Nadu government's directive to provide quality food at affordable prices to the public, Amma Unavagams are functioning across all districts. In Coimbatore Corporation limits, these eateries are located at 12 key locations where public footfall is high.

The Amma Unavagams are operational at Singanallur, Masakkalipalayam, Poosari Market, Mettupalayam Road New Bus Stand Complex, Saravanampatti, Maniyakarampalayam, Kuniyamuthur, Kovaiputhur, Kurichi, Ramanathapuram, Thirumalveethi, and Coimbatore Government Hospital Campus.

During the three months of May, June, and July 2026, various food items including idli, sambar rice, and curd rice were sold through these outlets. A total of 11,39,253 food items were sold, amounting to Rs 87,30,970.

Hundreds of people visit these eateries daily to have their meals. The scheme has gained immense popularity among the poor and working-class people as they receive quality food at minimal prices. The Corporation administration continues to monitor the quality and hygiene standards of these eateries regularly.
