To mark the National Dengue day, nationwide efforts have been taken to tackle the spread of dengue. Dengue, a viral disease i.e. transmitted by the bite of Aedes mosquito. In order to spread the awareness of dengue amongst the public, May 16th of every year is observed as National Dengue Day.
In this regard, the Civic Administration today, had organised an exhibition at the Corporation Office, Townhall to educate not only the public but also it's staff to work earnestly to eliminate dengue. The Corporation staff and sanitary workers in the presence of Dr. K. Vijayakarthikeyan, Corporation Commissioner also took an anti-dengue pledge, to adopt precautionary measures to avert the threat of dengue virus.
A slide show was also showcased to the sanitary workers and ward-level staff on the ways to control dengue spreading mosquitoes and how uncleared trash becomes the breeding ground for these viruses to grow multi-fold. The sanitary workers were also stressed to educate the residents on the ill-effects on keeping their premise unclean and importantly, how water stagnation can instigate the disease.
