Amaravathi dam, located in Tiruppur district, has a total storage capacity of 90 feet. Thanks to continuous water inflow from its catchment areas, the dam's water level has risen to 50.43 feet as of today. The dam is currently receiving an inflow of 63 cubic feet per second (cusecs).
From Amaravathi dam, water is being released at a rate of 698 cusecs for irrigation and drinking water purposes. This water discharge helps meet the agricultural and drinking water needs of various parts of the district, providing essential support to local communities and farmers.
Similarly, Thirumoorthy dam, situated near Udumalaipettai in Tiruppur district, has a total storage capacity of 60 feet. Currently, the dam's water level stands at 35.22 feet. The dam is receiving a substantial inflow of 170 cusecs, significantly boosting its water reserves.
Water Resources Department officials have reported that 21 cusecs of water is currently being discharged from Thirumoorthy dam. If good rainfall continues in the catchment areas, both dams are expected to see further improvement in their water levels in the coming days.
