Coimbatore Corporation Commissioner Katta Ravi Teja inspected newly installed automated boom barrier system, compost production center and waste segregation facilities at Vellalur waste dump today. The modern system will monitor vehicle entry and exit at the facility.

Coimbatore: Coimbatore Corporation Commissioner Katta Ravi Teja today conducted a direct inspection of newly installed modern facilities at the Vellalur waste dump located in Ward No. 99 under the South Zone of Coimbatore Corporation.

The Commissioner first visited the newly installed automated vehicle barrier (boom barrier) system designed to effectively monitor the entry and exit of vehicles. This modern system is expected to help properly track vehicles coming to the waste dump and ensure systematic management of operations.

Subsequently, the Commissioner closely observed the operations of the compost production center functioning at the waste dump. He also conducted a detailed inspection of the segregation centers that separate biodegradable and non-biodegradable waste. These centers play a crucial role in proper waste management practices.

During this inspection, Corporation officials including City Health Officer Dr. Subash Gandhi, Assistant Executive Engineer Kanagaraj, Assistant Engineer Sandeep Kumar, and Sanitary Inspector Balakumar accompanied the Commissioner and provided detailed explanations about the operations.

The introduction of such modern technologies at Vellalur waste dump is part of the modernization efforts undertaken by Coimbatore Corporation in waste management. This initiative is expected to contribute to environmental protection and efficient waste management in the city.

The automated boom barrier system represents a significant step forward in monitoring and controlling waste disposal operations. The system will maintain accurate records of all vehicles entering and leaving the facility, ensuring better accountability and transparency in waste management operations. Combined with the compost production and waste segregation facilities, these modernization efforts demonstrate the Corporation's commitment to sustainable waste management practices.
