Amaravathi Dam Water Level Rises to 48.07 Feet - Thirumoorthy Dam at 29.59 Feet

Amaravathi Dam in Tiruppur district recorded a water level of 48.07 feet as of July 11, while Thirumoorthy Dam stands at 29.59 feet. Both dams are receiving continuous inflow due to southwest monsoon, bringing relief to farmers and residents in the region.


Coimbatore: The water level status of key reservoirs Amaravathi and Thirumoorthy dams in Tiruppur district has been released as of July 11. Both dams are witnessing gradual rise in water levels due to continuous inflow from the southwest monsoon rainfall.

Amaravathi Dam, with a total storage capacity of 90 feet, currently has a water level of 48.07 feet. Water Resources Department officials reported that the dam is receiving an inflow of 682 cubic feet per second due to rainfall in the catchment areas. They noted that currently no water is being released from the dam.


Thirumoorthy Dam, located near Udumalaipettai in Tiruppur district, has a total capacity of 60 feet. The current water level in this dam stands at 29.59 feet. The dam is receiving an inflow of 494 cubic feet per second.

Water Resources Department officials informed that 954 cubic feet per second of water is being released from Thirumoorthy Dam. This water release is being carried out to benefit downstream irrigation farmers.


With the southwest monsoon continuing to be favorable, the water levels in both dams are expected to rise further in the coming days. The Water Resources Department is releasing daily statistics to keep farmers and the public informed about the water level situation.
