Demanding to ban the sale of Cannabis (Ganja) in Thondamuthur area, where many colleges have concentrated the members of the Youth Wing of BJP petitioned District Collector TN Hariharan to take necessary action against antisocials who indulge in this illegal practice.
The BJP Youth Wing members said that the many students are falling prey to drugs like Cannabis which is openly sold near colleges targeting the youth. Anti-socials have been selling Cannabis (Ganja) in Matha Patti- Kalapalayam stretch too.
Even though Police complaints were given, and few antisocials were arrested by the police, the practice of selling ganja to students continues unabated to this day. Continuous monitoring and preventive action could only prevent anti-socials from selling such psychedelic drugs to students.
