District Collector TN Hariharan has assured the public that bus service would be operated as usual despite the TNSTC employees strike. The district administration has taken all contingency measures and made adequate arrangements to operate bus services with the help of private drivers, who work for colleges and schools in the city.
“The public is asked not to panic as the district administration is taking steps to ensure and ply bus services including al mofussil and city services.” said District Collector TN Hariharan.
An appeal has also been made by the Collector to all the eligible heavy vehicle drivers, who possess a valid license to approach the respective TNSTC depots in Ukkadam, Mettupalayam Pollachi. These drivers would be hired on a temporary basis to run the fleet of TNSTC bus services, affected by the strike.
A helpline has also been created and the public is advised to contact helpline no:0422-2301737, 2220077 during emergencies. The official communique from the District collector said.
It is further noted that the special trains would be operated from Coimbatore to Chennai to clear the summer rush.
