Tiruchy police warn public against flying gadgets

Tiruchy: Sensing threat from terrorists to the country through sub-conventional aerial platforms, Tiruchy  City Police have warned the public against flying such gadgets over the area bounded by a radius of 5 kms around strategic vital points.

There is a high possibility of threat that could emanate from non-state actors, terrorists and elements inimical to India, using sub-conventional aerial platforms like para-gliders, para-motors,  powered- hang gliders, microlight aircraft, hot air balloons, an official release from Tiruchy City Police Commissioner’s Office said.

Public should obtain due permission for using these gadgets, the release said and warned the public of severe legal action if they fly any such gadgets over the area bounded by a radius of 5 kms around the strategic vital points.

Flying gadgets without permission shall be an offence under Sections 287 (imprisonment up to six months or fine up to  Rs 1,000 or both), 336 (imprisonment up to three months or fine up to Rs  250 or both), 337 (imprisonment up to six months or fine up to Rs 500 or both), 338 (imprisonment up to two years or fine up to Rs 1,000 or both) of Indian Penal Code (IPC), the release said.
