Solayar Dam Water Level Stands at 21.39 Feet with Steady Inflow

Solayar Dam in Valparai recorded a water level of 21.39 feet as of May 24, with an inflow of 113 cubic feet per second due to recent rainfall in catchment areas. The dam has a total capacity of 160 feet, with 5 cubic feet per second being discharged currently.

Coimbatore: The Solayar Dam in Valparai, with a total storage capacity of 160 feet, has recorded a water level of 21.39 feet as of today (May 24), according to the Water Resources Department officials.

The current water level is attributed to rainfall in the dam's catchment areas, which has resulted in a steady inflow. The dam is receiving an inflow of 113 cubic feet per second, contributing to the reservoir's water storage.

Water Resources Department officials have reported that 5 cubic feet per second of water is being released from the dam. This controlled discharge is part of routine water management operations to maintain optimal levels in the reservoir.

The Solayar Dam serves as an important water resource for the region, and regular monitoring of its water levels is essential for effective water management. The current inflow indicates recent rainfall activity in the catchment areas of the dam.

Officials continue to monitor the water level situation closely and will adjust the discharge rates as necessary based on inflow patterns and downstream requirements. The dam's operation remains normal with adequate storage for the season.
