The water supply system to Kurichi area which comes under the south zone, would be streamlined and regular water supply would be carried out soon, said CCMC Commissioner K. Vijayakarthikeyan.
Attributing the irregular water supply to the said Kurichi area to unprecedented drought situations prevailing in the district, and the frequent power failures and cracks in the pipelines which are caused due to ongoing Coimbatore - Pollachi road expansion project the commissioner said that the civic body has taken contingency measures and supplying drinking water through water tankers and new borewells which are being sunk to tackle the existing water crisis in the city. The delayed and irregular water supply to Kurichi area is caused due to above-said factors and it would be set right soon.
Vijayakarthikeyan also appealed to the people not to indulge in protests and road blocks as the City Corporation is working on war footing to supply drinking water to all the areas and zones which fall under the civic body despite many hurdles.
