A new found demand for Arts and Science courses among students community witnessed.

A new found demand for Arts and Science stream courses among the student community is witnessed in the present academic year and these undergraduate seats are fast filling up in many of the city colleges

In general students, it is evident that the student community has preferred B.A B.Sc, and B.com over Engineering courses and colleges.

“But the flip side is sensing this new- found demand some Arts and Science colleges in the city have allegedly hiked their fee structure and even touts are seen lounging in campuses to lure students to their preferred choice of courses” allege students who have been hungering to join in arts and science courses in these colleges.

Most of the undergraduate seats in these arts colleges including PSG college of Arts and Sciences, GRT college of Art and science and Ramakrishna arts and science college are fast filling up. Students had to return disappointed from these colleges as seats in certain streams are already filled up

According to some student, some of these Arts and Science colleges are demanding hefty sums up to Rs. 1 lakh as the fee to join in specialised courses which have proved a pain in the neck for students and their parents.

Even school toppers with 1100 marks and above are showing an interest in courses offered by Arts colleges bucking the trend for engineering courses which were witnessed only a few years back.

Sadly, students who have not been able to secure admission in top arts and colleges have turned their eyes on the colleges which are situated on the outskirts of the city.
