A 29-year-old man named Anand has been arrested by Kottur police for allegedly murdering 56-year-old Balakrishnan near Pollachi in Coimbatore district. The incident occurred following a dispute related to family matters on Tuesday.

Coimbatore: Police have arrested a man for the murder of a youth near Pollachi in Coimbatore district. The accused has been identified as Anand (29), who was taken into custody by Kottur police following the fatal incident.

The victim, Balakrishnan (56), resided in Nellithurai area of Azhiyaru village in Pollachi taluk of Coimbatore district. He lived with his son Tamilselvan. Anand, the accused, lived in close proximity to their house with his wife Priya.

According to police sources, frequent disputes had been occurring between the two families. These conflicts reportedly stemmed from an alleged relationship that had developed between Tamilselvan and Anand's wife Priya, leading to ongoing tensions between both parties.

The fatal incident occurred on Tuesday when Anand allegedly arrived at Balakrishnan's residence in an intoxicated state. An argument ensued between Anand and Balakrishnan, during which Anand allegedly pushed the victim, causing him to fall to the ground.

Balakrishnan sustained a head injury with bleeding as a result of the fall. Following the assault, he went to his elder daughter Tamilselvi's house and informed her that Anand had beaten him and that he was feeling physically exhausted and weak.

Concerned about her father's condition, Tamilselvi immediately decided to take Balakrishnan to the hospital for medical treatment. However, tragedy struck when Balakrishnan succumbed to his injuries while being transported to the hospital.

Upon receiving information about the incident, Kottur police rushed to the scene and recovered Balakrishnan's body. The body was subsequently sent to Kottur Government Hospital for post-mortem examination.

Police registered a case in connection with the incident and launched an investigation. Based on preliminary inquiry and evidence gathered from the scene, officers arrested Anand. The accused is currently in police custody and further investigation is underway to ascertain complete details of the case.
