Thanthai Periyar Dravidar Kazhagam Stages Protest Against PM Shri Scheme Near Coimbatore Collector Office

Thanthai Periyar Dravidar Kazhagam members staged a protest near the Coimbatore District Collector's office against the Central Government's PM Shri scheme. Over 30 activists gathered near BSNL office, condemning the scheme as an attempt to impose Hindi and allow indirect BJP infiltration in Tamil Nadu schools.

Coimbatore: Members of Thanthai Periyar Dravidar Kazhagam staged a protest in Coimbatore against the Central Government's PM Shri scheme, which they allege is an attempt to impose Hindi language and enable indirect BJP penetration in Tamil Nadu.

The Central Government has been taking measures to implement the PM Shri scheme across the country, selecting over 14,000 government schools to introduce modern facilities. However, several states including Tamil Nadu have been opposing this initiative, arguing that it would make Hindi language mandatory and amounts to Hindi imposition.

As the Central Government intensifies efforts to implement the scheme, opposition has been growing stronger. As part of this resistance, Thanthai Periyar Dravidar Kazhagam members organized a condemnation protest in Coimbatore.

Over 30 members of Thanthai Periyar Dravidar Kazhagam gathered in front of the BSNL office near the District Collector's office and raised slogans condemning the scheme and the Central Government. The protesters stated that this scheme is a ploy to impose Hindi language and an indirect attempt by BJP to infiltrate Tamil Nadu, emphasizing that the incoming state government should not accept this scheme.

Speaking to the media, K. Ramakrishnan, General Secretary of Thanthai Periyar Dravidar Kazhagam, stated that this scheme is an indirect strategy by BJP to gain control in Tamil Nadu and is essentially a Hindi imposition attempt. He further emphasized that the newly assuming government should not accept this scheme and should continue to oppose it just as the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam has been fighting against it.

The protest highlighted the continuing resistance in Tamil Nadu against what activists perceive as attempts at cultural and linguistic domination through educational schemes. The demonstrators made it clear that they expect the state government to maintain its stance against the PM Shri scheme.
