All Liquor Shops in Coimbatore to Remain Closed Tomorrow for Milad-un-Nabi - Collector's Order

District Collector Pawan Kumar Giriyappanar has ordered closure of all liquor outlets, bars and beer parlours in Coimbatore district tomorrow (26.08.2026) observing Milad-un-Nabi as a Dry Day to maintain communal harmony and respect religious sentiments.


Coimbatore: District Collector Pawan Kumar Giriyappanar has ordered the closure of all types of liquor shops in Coimbatore district tomorrow in observance of Milad-un-Nabi festival.

As Wednesday (26.08.2026) marks the celebration of Milad-un-Nabi and has been declared a Dry Day, the District Collector has issued orders to shut down all liquor outlets, bars, and beer parlours across Coimbatore district for the entire day.

According to an official statement released by the district administration, the closure order applies to all government liquor shops, bars (FL1), beer parlours operating in recreational clubs (IL2), bars in star hotels (FL3), Tamil Nadu Hotels (FL3A), bars operated by the tourism department (FL3AA), and outlets selling imported foreign liquor (FL). All license holders operating these establishments have been directed to comply with the shutdown order.

The prohibition of liquor sales on Milad-un-Nabi is part of the government's initiative to promote communal harmony and respect religious sentiments during important festivals. Collector Pawan Kumar Giriyappanar has warned that strict action will be taken against license holders who violate this order by keeping their establishments open.

The administration has requested cooperation from all stakeholders in implementing this directive successfully. Police personnel will be deployed across the district to ensure compliance with the order and prevent any unauthorized sale of alcoholic beverages during the Dry Day.
