A team of CC Munipal Corporation officials headed by Deputy Commissioner Gandhimathi slapped a fine of Rs.10,000 on three erring lessees, who have been entrusted with running public toilets in the central zone of the civic body.
As complaints poured in about the lessees over charging and fleecing the public and commuters, the civic official's team, swung into action and caught red-handed three of the erring lessees, who have been taking the public for a ride.
"The extension of lease permit given to V.K. Rahmathullah, who runs the Ukkadam Bus Stands public toilet was canceled and Rs.15.2 lakhs returned to him. "Deputy Commissioner P. Gandhimathi said.
“These lessees have over charged and fleeced the public over and above the fixed charges by the Corporation. While Rs.1 (urinals) and Rs.3 (bathing) is prescribed limit for to use these public toilets, the greedy lessees have charged Rs.5 and Rs.15 respectively.” the Deputy Commissioner added.
